Rivore began the way most good things in Surat begin, with a conversation over cloth. We were looking for a saree for a family wedding and found plenty of choice but very little care. Borders that scratched, colours that looked nothing like the photograph, and no one who could tell us how a fabric would behave after the third wash.

So we started small. A stall, a handful of weavers, and one rule: we would only sell what we would wear ourselves. That rule still decides everything. Our range stays deliberately compact so each piece can be seen, draped and approved before it goes online.

Today Rivore serves women across India who want tradition without fuss. Handloom cottons for the working week, tissue and silk for celebration, and ethnic sets that move from an office day to an evening at home.
